BMW R 12 GS motorcycle release information


BMW Motorrad has officially taken the cover from the new R 12 g/s, a retro-style endurance that blends old-school aesthetics with modern engineering. Borrowing from the BMW R 80 g/s, the new model restores the spirit of dual sport adventure with cutting-edge upgrades and unmistakable design tips.

Powered by a 1,170cc air/oil-cooled boxing engine that produces 109 hp and 85 lb-ft of torque, the R 12 g/s is powered by a 1,170cc air-cooled boxing engine that produces 109 hp and 85 lb-ft of torque, paired with the left-side, high-mount exhaust for the classic Enduro Flair. Riding modes include Rain, Road and Enduro, with optional Enduro Pro mode for more demanding terrain. BMW’s Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Engine Drag Torque Control (MSR) are standard.

R 12 g/s is ready directly from the factory with 21-inch front wheels and long-distance suspension. The Enduro Package Pro adds an 18-inch rear wheel, handlebar riser and aggressive Enduro foot pedals, adding to those who crave higher trail performance. Ergonomics is tailor-made for adventure, offering three seating options and a one-piece tubular steel space frame designed for rigidity and rider comfort. Fully adjustable upside-down forks and competitor rear suspension with 200mm travel ensures performance on rough terrain.

Other highlights include LED lighting, BMW Motorrad ABS Pro, and the optional Shift Shift Assistans Pro for clutch movement and classic round instrumentation. Riders can choose from three color schemes, including the excellent option 719 Aragonit scheme.

“The new BMW R 12 g/s is the classic endurance of pure off-road fun,” said Markus Lederer, head of the Boxer series, adding: “We know many fans have been eagerly waiting for this motorcycle. ”

At the time of writing, no details on the price and availability of R 12 g/s have been announced.
