A look at the list of advertised movies coming from Walt Disney Studios-inclusively from Disney’s live performance and animated divisions, plus Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, 20th century studios, search images and will tell you a few things. The biggest is that the next slate is bending Heavily toward Sequences, Reboots, Remakes, and new entries in known seriessomething the company’s general manager,, Bob whenseemed to cover against a recent call.

This said, it may be a bit unfair to watch Disney’s future calendar, which is full of known IP, and declare that Disney is not trying to create original movies. Most of the movies the studio dates in advance – from the next Tron: Ares to the Avatar consequences, The Mandalorian and Grogu,, Toy Story 5,, Frost IIIand the next Avengers Movies – are those great franchise films that will benefit from eager excitement, even years ago. And it’s not a secret priority of Disney is to make money, just like every other Hollywood studio.
To get a real sense of whether Iger speaks the truth, you would need to warm up in the future for a few years, then look back at all the titles that were actually released for a while. It might be more original movies than we think. However, we should also note that Iger’s definition of what constitutes a “original” is not what you could expect. How, say, The Ghost Four: First Steps.
He is aware that other studios have done Wonderful four Movies before, of course. But also: “We consider the one we have made an original property in many ways, because we introduce those characters to people who do not know them at all.”
