New York City auditor-general Brad Lander was arrested by a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agent Tuesday after allegedly assaulting federal officials.
Lander is charged with attacking or obstructing federal officials, the Department of Homeland Security told Fox News Numbers.
Several public officials have taken to social media to deal with the high-profile arrests.

“This is the latest example of Trump’s extreme scam on the ice,” former New York governor and New York mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo wrote on X.
Mayoral candidates Scott Stringer and Zohran Kwame Mamdani called on Lander to release “immediately”.
“The latest politicization of the federal immigration authorities under the Trump administration is disturbing and shameful,” Stringer wrote. “I call on Brad to be released immediately. I hope to see him on the campaign soon.”
“It’s fascism, and all New Yorkers have to speak in a voice,” Mandani added. “Release him now.”

The arrest came in less than a month against Newark, New Jersey Mayor Ras Baraka Delaney Concert Hallprivately operated immigration and customs enforcement (ICE) facilities.
