Cambodia nominates Trump for Nobel Peace Prize for ceasefire with Thailand

Cambodia will nominate president Donald Trump In the Nobel Peace Prize, he helped the country reach a ceasefire agreement to end the border conflict with Thailand.

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol thanked Trump for bringing peace to the region when he spoke to reporters in the country’s capital Phnom Penh earlier on Friday.

Chanthol said the U.S. president should be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, the largest high-profile international award given to a person or organization, as they try their best to “improve scholarships between countries.”

“We recognize him working for peace,” Chansol said.

Trump says

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said last month that he had nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, which Pakistani officials said in June they would recommend him for the award because of his role in helping to end the conflict with India.

Trump urged a ceasefire last week to talk to leaders in Cambodia and Thailand and threatened that the United States would not return to the “trading table” with the company Southeast Asian Countries Until the battle stops.

A ceasefire was negotiated in Malaysia on Monday, ending the worst conflict between the two countries in a decade.

After the ceasefire, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt wrote on X that Trump’s direct involvement led to a truce.

“President Trump achieved this goal. Give him the Nobel Peace Prize!,” she said.

The battle began last week after a blast along the border wounded five Thai soldiers. Both sides accuse each other Start a conflict, It lasted for five days.

On both sides of the border, at least 43 people were killed and more than 300,000 were displaced.

“I said, ‘I don’t want to trade with anyone who kills each other,’” Trump continued while in Scotland. “So we just solved a problem. I’m going to call me a very, very good Prime Minister and immediately talk to them and congratulate them after this meeting. But it’s a very annoying war to be involved. Chanthol told Reuters that the Trump administration initially threatened 49% tariffs and then reduced them to 36%, which would reduce the key clothing and footwear sectors in Cambodia.
