Canelo Alvarez said Terence Crawford was Floyd Mayweather Jr.
This is somewhat sensible to both comments from Canelo (63-2-2, 39 KO). This is not the battle that fans want. Turki Alalshikh longs to do this because he likes Crawford (41-0, 31 KOS).
Crawford: Is it better than Mayweather?
“I put that fight in another place now. I think Crawford is a little better than Mayweatherbut Canelo now has more experience. ” Canelo Alvarez said Fighthype When asked how Terence Crawford compared with his 2013 fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Canelo, 34, tried to build Crawford by praising him so that more fans will subscribe to Netflix to watch it. Obviously, he is not better than Mayweather. If he was, he wouldn’t have struggled in the Israil Madrimov, which would be the attraction of PPV. Crawford’s fighting style is not everyone’s taste, as many fans prefer to see action over nightly hits, moves and held fighters.
“I think it’s a completely different battle. I don’t want to compare this battle to other battles,” Alvarez said on Sept. 13 when he was defensive against Crawford. “I think this fight is one of the best in boxing history, that’s all.”
Canelo is too far behind, calling his battle with Crawford one of the “best battles in boxing history.” It’s not. His first two battles with Gennadiy Golovkin were much better, and his match against Mayweather was even more fun.
Crawford is not as popular as GGG or Mayweather in the mainstream public. Terence’s popularity is limited to hardcore boxing fans who like to watch boxers. As Turki Alalshikn negotiates to show it on Netflix, more fans may see Canelo-Crawford, but this isn’t one of the “best battles” in the sport.
If Canelo showed off other important battles with GGG, Floyd and Miguel Cotto on Netflix, their numbers would be better than his clash with Crawford.
