Paramount and Trump’s legal teams have agreed to mediation that aims to help both parties reach a settlement. It is widely believed that Paramount global controlling shareholder Shari Redstone hopes to settle the lawsuit ahead of a planned multi-billion-dollar merger with Skydance Media in a bid to prevent potential retribution from Trump’s FCC, which the company has the right to stop the deal.
“This lawsuit is completely separate from the Skydance transaction and the FCC approval process. We will comply with the legal process that defends our case,” Paramount said in a previous statement on the Skydance transaction.
