“The Metro” details the shocking adrenaline shock brought by encountering an ex. “It’s hard for me to overcome this person, I just can no Overcome them. We’re done, we’re done, we’re done, we’re done. Even if we were done, the feeling still existed. ”

Roan, who co-wrote the song with producer Daniel Nigro, proved a daunting idea. She compared “The Metro” to her early hit single “Casual,” which is about wanting someone who doesn’t commit, both in terms of its content and production process. “It took a lot of time to make it right,” she said.

The same goes for music videos. “I haven’t made videos in years because they’re so unnecessary and sometimes traumatic,” she said, releasing her single “Good luck, baby!” In 2024 and earlier this year’s “Gift Gifter,” Roan didn’t feel like she had the time or energy to create the accompanying visuals. She said: “This is a labor of love, and I think, I don’t know that I have this kind of love in my heart now.”
