Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson vowed Tuesday that his city “never work with ice”

“You know again that it’s unreasonable when so many workers and poor need government appearances, and the Trump administration has caused such a huge shock and division,” Johnson said in a press conference Tuesday.

Johnson answered a question whether the city would “establish local police departments around the school to save students from federal agents without warrants.”

“Look, we welcome the city regulations,” Johnson said. “Whatever their constitutional authority is, our local police department will never work with the ICE. This has obviously been downgraded to the Trump administration. All of our sister agencies, the city departments have received a thorough brief introduction from corporate consultants, and I will pass it on to her in the second second, what they can do and can’t do.”
