Christian Horner was fired by Red Bull 20 years later.
The 51-year-old has been the only team principal of Red Bull since the first Formula season in 2005.
Horner was fired 17 months after he was charged with “misconduct” by a female colleague.
Horner was twice cleared by the team’s parent company, Red Bull GmbH.
“Red Bull has released Christian Horner’s operational responsibilities from today and appointed Laurent Mekies as CEO of Red Bull Racing,” said in a statement Wednesday.
