Conor McGregor said he was Run for President of Ireland – Now, his goal is to formalize it.

Existing regulations require candidates to be nominated by twenty OIREACHTAS or four county council members in order to be eligible for voting. McGregor made his initial announcement about his presidential run just days after meeting with President Donald Trump earlier this year.

The former champion opposes bills on EU immigration agreements.

“Ireland must fully implement the EU immigration agreement by June 12, 2026. So from now until June 12, 2026, several legislation must be passed by two houses in Oireachtas and then signed by the president…Who else will support the government and oppose the bill? McGregor wrote in March.

“This is the choice of the people of Ireland! Always! This is a true democracy!…This is the future of Ireland. My future as president. All citizens of Ireland can have voices and choices about their future! God bless our people. Vote McGregor and hear you!”

McGregor criticized the Irish government at the White House to raise awareness of “the problems faced by the Irish people.”

In September, he teased a potential presidential campaign in Ireland, calling himself the “only logical choice”.

McGregor hasn’t fought since his legs against Dustin Poirier in 2021. He was supposed to return last year, but a toe injury left him out of the octagon. Since then, he said he would only return at the stadium, but UFC Events held by the White House next year.
