Italy lacks women in a management position, and this is a cultural problem that has to fix the business world, said the head of the Milan Stock Exchange.

“Last year we probably reached the lowest level of the female CEOs on the Milan stock exchange on the Milan exchange,” said Claudia Parzani, chairman of the Borsa Italiana Spa from Euronext NV on Tuesday at the Event New Voices event of Bloomberg New Voices.

She warned that the country has to attract new talents, including qualified women. Italy has to concentrate on the “human factor” in the age of AI, she added.

Parzani spoke about the capital markets in Italy and emphasized how important it is to make the market for small and medium -sized companies more attractive. “We are working on something that is important, namely the liquidity of the market, especially for smaller companies, and to enlarge the category of institutional domestic investors as far as possible.”

Nevertheless, she said that the market windows are not always available for the first public offers and set Italy as a delayed competitive markets such as France and Germany.
