The company behind a cursor, the Viral AI coding editor, has launched an online program on Monday, which allows users to manage a network of code agents directly from their browser.
The next big step of the launch marks a cursor beyond its integrated development environment (IDE), the core product developers use to access their tools. While anyone, the company behind a cursor, initially offered only this AI-powered IDE, the company made a live effort to put its products in more places, and develop more agency experiences for users.
In May, a cursor launched background agents -AI systems that solve coding tasks autonomously without a user -overview. In June, the company launched Slack integration, which allows users to assign tasks to these background agents by tagging @cursor, similar to as the AI coding agent of Cognitions, Devinworks.
Now, with the website -App, cursor users can send requests for a natural language by browser – on a desktop or cellphone – to assign tasks of background agents such as writing functions or repairing errors in their codebase. The website program also allows users to monitor agents working on other tasks, see their progress and merge completed changes in the codebase.
Andrew Milich, the head of Product Engineering of Kursor, tells Techcrunch that the Slack integration and website program are part of an effort to “remove friction” for users who rely on cursor -and it seems that many do.
Any sphere announced last month that cursor has crossed $ 500 million in annual recurring incomemostly driven by monthly subscriptions. The company also said that cursor is now used by more than half of Fortune 500, including companies such as Nvidia, Uber and Adobe.
To capitalize this growth, Anyphere just launched $ 200-month pro-level for cursor.
“You have noticed how customers want a cursor in more places. I think they also want a cursor to solve more problems they have,” Milich said.
Cursor background agents are designed to let users start tasks with Slack or the site -App, allowing an agent to take a first pass. If the agent cannot perform the task, users can perfectly cross to the IDE to pick up where the agent is gone. Each agent also has a unique co -changeable connection – making it easier to see progress and coding changes to agents that other teammates have created.
Ansasphere says that all clients with access to background agents can use the Course online program-which includes subscribers to the $ 20-bon-month professional plan of cursor, as well as more expensive plans, but not users at the free level of cursor.
A cursor is not the first to ship AI code agents, but the company says it has taken care of occupying its time and not shipping a “demo valley” -ai products that look good in theory, but fail in practice. That was The story for many early AI cod agents, who made many mistakes in testing.
The team behind a cursor now believes that AI -resonance models are ahead enough to make code agents feasible. In a a Recent interview With Ben Thompson of Stratechery, Michael Truell, CEO of Anypphere, said he expects AI -coding agents to handle at least 20% of the work of a software engineer by 2026.
