Bouygues Telecom, the third largest telephone carrier in France, confirmed a cyber attack and data break -up affecting millions of its customers.
In Statement posted to its websiteThe telecommunications giant said the hack allowed the intruders to access personal information with 6.4 million customer accounts. Bouygues said it detected the cyber attack on 4 August, but did not give a duration for when the break was remedied.
In a particular page Dedicated to victims of the Cyberattack, Bouygues said the stolen data includes contact information and contract data from customers, their civil status (or corporate data if the subscriber is professional), as well as IBANs, or international bank accounts.
Bouygues said it has about 26.9 million mobile customers.
The cyber attack was reported to the data protection of data from France, CNIL.
At the time of publication, Bouygues’ Web page About the cyber attack contained a hidden “Noindex” label in its source code, which instructs search engines to ignore the page, making it difficult to look for the network to find the page.
