Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani New York City mayor.
After three rounds of competition, Mamdani won 565,639 votes, surpassing David N. Dinkins’ record of 547,901 votes held in 1989, according to the total number of votes on the latest ranking score released by the NYC Election Commission on Tuesday.
Mamdani celebrated this milestone on X and posted on X: “With the Election Commission just released an updated RCV total, our campaign has officially won the major total votes in New York City’s history.”

Queens’ left-wing conference chips won 565,639 votes after only three rounds of ranking votes, beating former Governor Andrew Cuomo BOE official data confirmed that nearly 13 points. Cuomo ended the game with 440,655 votes.
Mamdani’s campaign immediately grabbed the numbers, touting the results as “authorized” such as city-wide rent freezes, taxpayer-funded childcare services, and even “fast and free” public buses.
“This movement made history on election night,” Mamdani said in a statement Tuesday.

Public Mamdani Identify as a democratic socialistcurrently representing the New York State Legislature and Long Island City. Two of his records include pushing for tenant protection, opposing utility rate hiking and advocating for mass transport subsidies.
Ranking-chosen votes are used for the second time in the New York Mayor’s primary. After three rounds, Mamdani received 56.2% of the vote, while Cuomo’s 43.8% received the vote.
Mayor Eric Adams Eight rounds are required in 2021 to reach the narrow 50.4%.
The left-political shift in New York City has attracted the attention of state and national leaders.
“Yesterday I thought I thought there were a lot of conversations with the nominees,” New York Governor Kathy Hochul They discussed shared affordability goals and concerns in the Jewish community “feeling besieged”, told reporters Tuesday, adding that they discussed their shared affordability goals. Mamdani “understands the need to” interact with these constituencies, Hochul said.

When asking about the truth about social positions President Donald Trump Hochul called Mamdani a “communist loan” and suggested New York could lose funds, which Hawkel firmly delayed.
“We are New Yorkers, we won’t be intimidated by the threat from Washington, not never,” she said.
With the election looming, the eyes are now focused on whether Cuomo or other centrist Democrats will face the challenge of independence.
“President Trump supports Eric Adams and we don’t think socialism is the answer,” Cuomo movement spokesman Rich Azzopardi told Fox News Digital. “Most New Yorkers are not players, most New Yorkers are not socialists – most are in the middle. We will continue to evaluate the current situation in the best interests of the people in New York City.”
