Federal prosecutors asked the judge to waive the Justice Department case on Friday. New York Mayor Eric AdamsAfter several prosecutors left, they chose to resign rather than continue to file charges against Adams.
The news comes after federal prosecutor Hagan Scotten resigned on Friday, accusing top Justice officials of searching for “fools.”

“Any assistant U.S. attorney will know that our law and traditions do not allow the use of prosecutors to influence other citizens, in this way,” Scottotten told ACTING. U.S. Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove.
Adams responded to the news that his prosecution was dropped, clarifying that he had not reached a deal to waive the case.

“I want to keep a clear attitude toward New Yorkers: I have never offered – no one has offered any power deals on behalf of me as your mayor to end my case,” Adam said in a statement.

“The fact that those prosecuting and prosecuting the case refuse to comply with direct command further proves the disorder and ulterior motives of the prosecutors. These people have no position in the Justice Department,” Mizel said in a statement released Friday.

The federal judge still needs to sign the order before the case against Adams is formally dismissed.
