“The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg claimed Thursday that people are not taking Maryland Gov. Wes Moore’s presidential bid seriously because “you can’t elect black people in the United States.”
Goldberg said she is now questioning the Democratic Party because people told her that Americans are not ready to elect blacks as president despite two elections to the Oval Office.
“I question the Republicans, and now I question the Democrats,” she said. “You know, you have someone like Wes Moore, who is a perfect candidate… People are saying, OK, he, he knows, you can’t elect a black man. Why not?”

Other co-hosts immediately postponed Goldberg’s claim, with the sunny Hosting noting: “We did it twice!” suggesting Obama (a black man) won the national election twice.
Goldberg tried to explain her reasoning, but was quickly cut off by other co-hosts who expressed enthusiasm for Moore’s prospects as president.
Shortly thereafter, Goldberg explained to the audience that she believed “change” was necessary.

“If we want to change, we will have to achieve this because you will have to go out and vote.” “You know what?”
Early in the show, Goldberg claimed that although she was not independent, she was not a Republican or a Democrat either.
“My name doesn’t have my name,” she claimed. “No name. Because there are things that fit what I want, and there are things that don’t fit. I’m a lunatic and said, ‘Why don’t we have a Democratic president and a Republican vice president?'”
