Documentary explores people interested in the Jodi Huisentruit case

Jodi Huisentruit was at work when he disappeared earlier on June 27, 1995. Thirty years later, the sheriff wonders if it is possible to involve a suspicious serial killer.

The case of missing Iowa news anchors is being explored in the new ABC News Studios documentary Her Last Broadcast: The Kidnapping of Jodi Huisentruit. It has interviews with Huisentruit’s loved ones, investigators, and others who are closely linked to the case.

The film delves into four interested people, including Christopher Revak of Wisconsin Rapids.

In 2024, KCCI Monk Investigators in Iowa and Wisconsin focused on Revak, who committed suicide in 2009 in prison cell after being accused of death in 2007 at the Eagles Lodge bartender Rene Williams in Ava, Missouri.

According to the documentary, police want to know whether Revak may have been linked to five different homicides in 14 years. Huistentruit’s disappearance made them list suspicious cases that Revak might be involved in.

“When I started working on Christopher Revak case, he was the suspect in my murder of Rene Williams,” Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase told Fox News Digital. “I don’t think this is his first time.”

“I searched for the women kidnapped by the bar,” he shared. “There was a sudden appearance of the Didell Harm of the Wisconsin Rapids. I saw a comprehensive drawing of the suspect, and he was undoubtedly Christopher Revak.”

DEGASE does not rule out the possibility that Revak could have ever been to Iowa.

“It’s obvious that (Jody) didn’t kidnap from the bar, but I just thought it was weird,” degase told Fox News Numbers, where he also heard a documentary discussing the Revak case.

Degase noted that like Huisentruit, Williams was never found.

“I don’t believe in coincidences,” Degase said. “I called the authorities and gave them my information.”

When asked if “suspected serial killer” is the exact description of Revak, Degase replied: “Absolutely – I gave him that.”

Degase stressed that he personally believes Revak is a suspect worthy of research.

“Christopher Revak was late,” Degase said. “He died in my prison. He hung himself in my prison shortly after he arrested him. So I don’t know if they completely see him as someone interested in the case.

In response to the interested people listed in the documentary Mason Police Department “MCPD continues to investigate the disappearance of Jodi Huisentruit and hopes that the current information will generate useful prospects that will help bring some closed cases to families and our community. We have not discussed suspects or interests in the past and are not going to start doing so now.”

In the documentary, Mason City Police Investigator Terrance Prochaska pointed out that Revak’s ex-girlfriend did not live in the relevant duplex when Huisentruit kidnapped. She had moved out for three months before Huisentruit disappeared. However, a theory has been proposed that Revak might track his ex’s address and look for her in the area.

“Until documents prove that Jodi disappeared, Revak was not in Mason City, he was still a person interested in police officers,” AIDS said in the documentary.

Awes told Fox News Digital that she wouldn’t rely on anyone interested. She said the goal of her film is Helps raise awareness about Huisentruit’s disappearance Hopefully this will bring new potential customers to investigators.

Mason City Police received a notice after the 27-year-old was not working before 7 a.m. Her vehicle was found in her apartment, along with curved car keys, high heels and signs of struggle.

She has been believed to have been kidnapped so far, but extensive investigations have failed to find specific evidence about what happened or where the body might be.

“One thing that always resonates with me is that there have been a lot of people interested in this situation over the years,” Awes explained.

“I think it’s easy to look at each person and think, ‘Of course, this must be this person. Look at all the different indirect evidence.” But you also think, “But what about this person?” I think, there are only a lot of people who need to conduct a survey with whether they can participate. ”

“I think what surprised me is that there are a lot of people who are called potential people, maybe responsible people, someone who lacks links, a message… someone has to come up with the answer.”

Awes noted that Huisentruit’s apartment was dusted at that time.

“Fingerprints were the time,” she said. “Sometimes, fingerprint dust erodes the ability to get DNA from things. But I think what you have here is an opportunity to take advantage of … new testing techniques and new methods to potentially view this evidence again.”

She said investigators were “very hopeful” to find out what happened to Huisentruit.

“They never lost hope,” said Reverence. “I think everyone feels it’s a solution. They just need that one piece of lost work. I hope that the people who watch this case will have the information they need to resolve the case.”
