The president will start the week with a House Republicans The meeting will be held at Trump National Doral in Miami at a time to be determined. The January Republican retreat provides an opportunity for Republicans to strategize how to implement a common agenda with President Trump. Key policy initiatives that may be addressed include the president’s comprehensive border security and ongoing deportation initiatives, increasing domestic energy production and advancing new tax plans.
House Speaker Mike Johnson Tell Politico He hopes to develop a “blueprint” for a massive reconciliation package after the retreat. The House Budget Committee, which wrote the bill’s directives, is scheduled to meet next week.
Johnson sent a letter to the President and addressed a joint session of Congress on March 4, 2025. “Working together, your administration and the 119th Congress have the opportunity to make the next four years the most consequential in our nation’s history,” Johnson wrote in the letter.
He went on to write: “To this end, I am deeply honored to invite you to join a joint session of Congress in the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, to share your perspective on the America First vision for our legislative future, which I eagerly await. your response.”

Another thing critical to Trump’s early priorities is a hearing by the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee titled “Costs and Foreign Influence: A Review of the Panama Canal and Its Impact on U.S. Trade and National Security” . The committee is led by Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas.
In his inaugural speech, Trump said, “China is operating the Panama Canal. We didn’t give it to China, we gave it to Panama, and we’re going to take it back.”
Newly appointed Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled to visit Panama this week. The trip will include visits to the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Guatemala and El Salvador, according to the State Department.

Senate confirmation hearings continue this week for Tulsi Gabbard, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Kelly Loeffler and Kash Patel (Kash Patel) were all present.
Border czar Tom Homan and Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove will travel to Chicago on Sunday to witness increased enforcement as ongoing immigration and deportations are expected to continue.
