Dozens of Maoist guerrillas were killed in Central India on Sunday by government forces, one of the deadliest operations in recent years against the left -wing rebel who led the rebellion that emerged and flowed for several decades.
Operations in the area of wooded bijaphors in Chhattisgarh were carried out against the so -called naxalite movement and, according to the police chief of this area, left 31 rebels along with two members of the police forces, Jitendra Kumar Yadav.
Yadav chief said that the authorities also received several AK-47 offensive weapons and several other automatic rifles.
“We will completely remove naxism from the country so that no citizen of the country should lose its life,” said Amit Shah, Indian Interior Minister with reference to the left -wing uprising.
The Maoist Uprising began in East India at the age of 60 and spread wide in the central and southern part of the country.
Violence reached the peak in 2010, when more than 600 civilians and more than 250 security forces were killed in the conflict.
In recent years, civilian death has decreased after government operations have reduced the space to operate the insurgents. The leadership of the rebellion also fought, the analysts claim to face targeted operations, old age and illness.
Last year, the domestic ministry has decreased significantly in terms of the number of deaths as well as the amount of affected territory in recent years.
The deaths of civilians and security forces related to the 2023 rebellion were 86 percent lower than at its peak in 2010, the ministry said, adding that the number of districts affected by violence was reduced to 38 of 126.
Niranjan Sahoo, who studies left -wing extremism in the Observer Research Foundation, Indian Think, said the Maoists are trying to hire members.
He also stated that they concentrated their activities in several districts around the Abujhmad Forest, including Bijapur, after the suffering of loss over the years.
“Maoists are at their weakest point, mainly because they have lost a lot of their territory,” he said.
