An escaped pet zebra Reunited with the owners after an eight-day search in Tennessee County.

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office announced in a Facebook post Sunday that “celebrity Zebra Ed” has been “safely rescued.”

“The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to report 82 Zebra Ed’s air crew in Tango and send him back to Sunday’s owner,” the official wrote in the Post.

The sheriff’s office said a zebra was found near Interstate 24.

According to officials, “Zebra Ed” originally arrived at Christiana on May 30, and his master was reportedly missing one day.

Deputies said he fled to a wooded area near Interstate 24, where he was “damaged” by bystanders, Joe B. Jackson Parkway and Epps Mill Road Exit.

The Sheriff’s Office told Fox News that Deputy Ryan Keach found the zebra near the interstate and closed a lane on May 31 for travelers to be safe.

Officials said “Zebra Ed” did not find it again a few days after the May 31 sighting.

Ed was again spotted on Friday, June 6 in a field near Ridgewood Avenue in Christiana before Sunday’s rescue operation. The Sheriff’s Office announced that deputies saw him through drones and worked with a veterinarian to rescue the animals safely.

RCSO CPL: “We don’t want to scare the zebras,” said Sean White. “We need time to calm him down.”

The Sheriff’s Office did not disclose the next step for “Zebra Ed”.
