Floyd Schofield’s reaction to entertainment on Shakur Stevenson has reduced his first-round knockout against Tevin Farmer last Saturday night.
Shakur brushed off Schofield’s knockout and said on X: “Any fighter that’s dangerous in the first round, especially these little kids.” In other words, Schofield’s skills and training gave him a victory. This is just a simple aggression by a young fighter.
When Schofield was told about comments from WBC lightweight champion Shakur, he said he needed to focus on his July 12 fight with William Zepeda because he was “coming”.
Zepeda (33-0, 27 KOs) is seen as a real threat against Stevenson (23-0, 11 KOs), who has been matched carefully by his promoters since his poor performance against the big puncher Edwin De Los Santos in 2023. Shakur has been matched against exclusively weak opposition since being booed out of the ring in the De Los Santos fight.

Stevenson further devalued Schofield by adding “Don’t over-hype because it’s irresponsible.”
What Shakur is talking about here is that Schofield’s knockout is the result of the farmers’ “irresponsibility”, not the product of Floyd’s talent and skills. He said it was a mistake for farmers, not the training and strategies Schofield used. He is not big enough to win his victory. Shakur must use it as a farmer’s mistake.
“Of course, I’ll love the winner of that fight. But, like I said, they’re both having a tough night,” Schofield said. “My business with Shakur isn’t done yet. That will eventually happen and I’ll be able to prove what I’m going to do in February.”
If Schofield wins against Zepeda, you can forget to fight Shakur. He wants the battle of Gervonta Davis. Even if he didn’t understand, he wouldn’t look in Schofield’s direction. After confronting the farmers with Stevenson, he had little chance of disappearing. The last thing Stevenson wants is to face competitors with singles power.
