Before she won a few WNBA MVP Trophy, Candace Parker rose to national basketball standout at the University of Tennessee. Parker is a member of two national championship teams, winning the NCAA Championship’s most outstanding player honor in the process.
Parker is coached by coach during his tenure as Pat Summitt volunteer. Parker, an “NBA on TNT” analyst, took a moment to share how she continued her lessons for the late coach that she instilled years ago.
Parker responded to co-host Adam Lefkoe’s request to share some memorable suggestions in the “Story Time” section.

“So now, when I’m at home, I want parents, my son says, ‘Look at me. Look at me.’ Like I’ve been saying, she’s always saying she can get you through the walls, so it’s really important to be able to execute her legacy,” Parker added.

Summitt died in 2016 from early onset of Alzheimer’s disease.

Lefkoe thanked Parker and then recalled another story the three-time WNBA champion once told.
“We all want to have a relationship with someone like you have with Pat,” Lefko said. “I will never forget the story you told me about how you went to college. You were hurt and she just let you sit there. You guys talk. I think it’s a blessing. I want you to say thank you for sharing these stories with us because we don’t have a relationship like you. We love you. We love you. You and Pat Pat and Pat, we love you too.”

Parker also serves on the board of directors of the Pat Summitt Foundation. The foundation seeks to make progress in Alzheimer’s research.

Summitt is widely regarded as one of the greatest coaches College basketball history. She won eight national titles during her legendary tenure in Tennessee.
