General China took out the cover Buick Electro Orbit, a bold new electrical concept that blends 1950s space romance with futuristic design ev architecture. Developed by General Motors China Advanced Design Center, Electra Orbit draws inspiration from iconic Giosk concepts, spacecraft and jet-era aesthetics, aiming to push boundaries with proportions of proportions, materials and innovative. The concept, which is nearly six meters long and more than two meters wide, forms a dramatic outline with sculptural fenders, 24-inch wheels and scissor-style doors. Aerodynamic rear and deployable drag devices suggest performance capabilities, while dual open pores reveal custom luggage.
Inside, Electra Orbit continues to immerse retro futurism with a 2+2 cabin layout, continuing its cosmic narrative. Full-width “ring” digital displays from A-Pillar to A-Pillar span the immersive driving interface. The dashboard and steering wheel adapt according to the drive mode and transition between driver-centric and autonomous layout. At the center is a wormhole-style AI assistant and a spherical console controller. Rich interior details such as red clay-style tones, custom damask patterns, crystal elements and a “digital hallucination carpet” fuse heritage craftsmanship and celestial elegance.
A neutral metallic tone called “Space” is drawn in a custom neutral metallic tone, whose appearance is created to reflect the mystery and beauty of the universe. According to Stuart Norris, vice president of design at GM China and GM International, the concept demonstrates “how to execute bold forms, materials and technologies in a real context.” While only design exploration is available, the Electra track demonstrates GM China’s ambition to expand Buick’s EV identity in a way that combines historical DNA with forward-looking design.
