Google’s Newest AI Model Acts like a Satellite to Track Climate Change

The latest You have a model will immediately look through the Land And, ideally, help it. This is the plan, anyway. The mission is to find out once and for all, in detail, what we do to our planet. Literally, after the model has allegedly done this, it will also, apparently, explain where we may best set things up to help our world.

Alphaearth Foundation Deepmind AI Model, aims to exploit machine learning and all the gobbies and gobas of data that Google has absorbed about our planet over the last two decades, to understand how specific areas are changing over time.

The model uses a system called “Embeddings“This takes Terabytes from data collected from satellites daily, analyze it and compress it to save storage space. The result is a model of different filters overlapping over maps that are colored to indicate material properties, vegetable types, groundwater sources and human constructions such as buildings.

The goal, Google says, is that service users can better understand how specific ecosystems on the planet work, including as air quality, sunlight, groundwater and even human building projects vary and change through landscape. Finally, the company wants the model to help answer questions from paying governments and corporations that want to know, for example, which ecosystems can have more access to sunlight or groundwater, which can help determine the best spots to grow a certain crop. Alternatively, it can help identify areas to cover solar panels with maximum reward, or build structures in more climate resistant locations.

Google’s new model has already mapped a complex surface in Antarctica – an area noticeably difficult to capture due to an irregular satellite imagery – in detail. It also allegedly outlined variations in Canadian agricultural use of land, which are invisible to the naked eye.

The new Google model assigns colors to the embodiment fields of Alphaearth Foundations. In Ecuador, the model sees with a constant cloud cover detail agricultural plots in various stages of development.
