Eddie Hearn said he hopes Jaron “Boots” Ennis will fight the “Gatekeeper” in his August 154 debut, and then fight WBC WBC interim junior middleweight champion Vergil Ortiz before the end of the year. Hearn will be on his next fight on August 16, but he was told he won’t be ready for that date.
Ennis’ 154-pound debut plan
Hearn is not saying who will fight Ennis (34-0, 30 Kos) next time, but has to be a good enough person so he can prepare for Vergil. He believes that the boots will be stronger at 154 because he doesn’t have to make his body as heavy as he does at 147.
“Your opposition to Stanis is a dry-out person, it’s just a horror, what he will do when he doesn’t run out of this person. That’s why I think he made the decision and said, ‘You need to see my best,'” Fighting TV About Jaron “Boots” Ennis’ decision to rise to 154.
It’s weird to see Ennis boxing Eimantas Stanionis instead of slipping like an opponent. This is a clear signal that the boots don’t feel enough to stand up with the Eimantas after experiencing a weight of 147.
“I don’t think people are screaming at the championship to fight him (Ennis), but now he has built this profile. You see them all over him in Riyadh season and we want to do that,” Hearn said. “We want to work with his Excellency (Turki Alalshikh).
Unless the money is huge, the 154-year-old champion doesn’t want to fight Ennis because they know they have little chance to win. That would require Turki’s involvement to attract belt holders to want to defend the boots. Beyond that, Ennis may need to work on entering a mandatory position to force the champion to fight him.
Ennis’s gatekeeper
“We also saw what the boots built for me in the US, you need that world-class gatekeeper, that top five guy, and of course a top ten guy who can test the waters on 154, and then I think we should do Vergil Ortiz’s fight,” Hearn said. “It’s a huge fight. We hope to fight in August.”
If Ennis next fights the “Guardian” at 154 to prepare for Jr, he should focus on fighting Israel Madrimov or Erickson Lubin. These two fighting opportunities provide Ennis a good test in order to prepare for Ortiz Jr. It would be useless for Ennis to fight someone at the bottom of the top 15 because that wouldn’t prepare him for it.
“We actually said among the guys in Riyadh season that we could fight Vergil Ortiz on August 16, but he wasn’t ready or the date wasn’t working. I don’t know what it is. I think we’ll fight in August and then we fight for Vergil Ortiz. I think it’s a great fight, and I think it’s the best fight in the division,” Hearn said.
Ennis vs. Ortiz may be the biggest struggle for the 154-pound division boots, but not the toughest. Bakhram Murtazaliev, Sebastian Fundora and Israel Madrimov may have a tougher battle than Jr. Vergil Jr.
Ennis’ multi-sector future
“You see him at 154, maybe 160, or even 168,” Hearn said of Boots Ennis. “He will be the world champion for three or four-pointers. Wait for you to see Jaron Ennis cheer properly without having to go through that week’s game. He weighs better in Stanis fight than in Chukhadzhian’s fight.”
We don’t know if the boot will dominate the junior middleweight, as he still needs to go through these fighters to do this:
– Bakhram Murtazaliev
-Sebastian Fundora
-Tim Tszyu
– Vergil Ortiz Jr.
– Eriksen’s Rupee
– Israel Madrimov
– Xander Zayas
-Serhii bohachuk
– Jorge Garcia Perez
– Keith Thurman
“He’s shrinking himself, physically, and when you do that to the body, you can’t 100%. Now is the time to see the best Jaron Ennis. We’re ready to have this fight in the end of 2025,” Hearn said. “We have a good relationship with the King Boy and Daz. They love that fight. Let’s see what we can do.”
Ennis has looked exhausted over the past two years and should have been promoted rather than torture himself. Terence Crawford raises to 154 in 2024, and the boots should follow him. That’s the only name in the department. Error Spence stops fighting after losing Crawford. Therefore, it is meaningless to continue to spend 147 times to fight the likes of Eimantas Stanoonis and Karen Chukhadzhian.
