Electric substation fire shuts down London Heathrow Airport On Friday Causing major travel disruptions worldwide.
The airport said Heathrow, the largest airport and global travel hub in the UK, will remain closed until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, and the airport said the disruption is expected to affect hundreds of flights.
according to Flight tracker on-site flight radar679 flights are scheduled to land at Heathrow Airport on Friday, while 678 flights are scheduled to take off from the airport.
This is what the airline tells passengers that the passengers are caused by flying out or going abroad:
British Airways
British Airways advises customers not to go to the airport until further notice.
“This will obviously have a significant impact on our operations and customers and we are working as soon as possible to update them in the next 24 hours and beyond,” a statement said.
“Where possible, we are redirecting inbound flights to Heathrow Airport to other UK airports. ”
Singapore Airlines
A spokesman for Singapore Airlines (SIA) said many of its flights were affected by the damage.
The SQ322 left Singapore on Thursday and was transferred to Frankfurt, while the SQ306 aircraft departing from Singapore on Friday was transferred to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, France. Another flight that took off on Friday returned to Singapore.
The spokesman added that flight SQ318 from Singapore was cancelled and many departure events the airline planned to depart from Heathrow Airport were also cancelled.
“The SIA will provide all necessary assistance to affected passengers, including providing hotel accommodation and re-adjusting it on alternative flights or land transport,” the spokesperson said. “Other SIA flights between Singapore and London Heathrow Airport may be affected.”
Emirates
Emirates explain On Friday, it canceled six flights in and out of Heathrow Airport.
“Passes on flights to London Heathrow Airport will not be accepted until the origin is further notified to the place of origin,” the airline said in a statement. “We are closely monitoring the situation and will update customers as the situation develops.”
The airline said travelers who will enter and exit Heathrow with Emirates can rebook to other UK airports or travel later.
Cathay Pacific
Cathay Pacific said flights from Hong Kong to London on March 21 have been cancelled.
“All Cathay Pacific from London to Hong Kong on March 21 have also been cancelled,” it said in a statement. “We are evaluating the situation and will keep our customers up to date with the latest updates.”
United Airlines
United Airlines said seven of its flights had been transferred or returned to its original airport due to the closure, adding that all flights to London Heathrow on Friday were cancelled.
“We are working with our customers to provide alternative travel options,” the carrier said in a statement.
