After a few years in the spotlight, Helen Hunter Learned to give up the beauty standards that often flood Hollywood.
During an interview Mobile spacethe 61-year-old actress is often open to her appearance early in her career and explains how she chooses to exceed expectations.
“It’s impossible to internalize the way you should look,” Hunter said. “And (there is) a certain level of pain and shame, it’s not like that.”

“I realized, ‘It could quietly ruin your life,” Hunter added. I made a decision: I wouldn’t (let it) take up a lot of space. ”
Hunter said her approach was influenced by the “only diet,” a book written by spiritual leader Sondra Ray.
“What I get from it is, eat what you want, love every bite, period,” she said.

Hunter isn’t the only 90s heartbeat to openly talk about the struggles her young stars face.

“Yes, a very bad eating disorder started with me doing that show that lasted a long time,” she said.
Applegate said she had never told anyone about the disease at the time and was “very very, very private about it.”

“I would hide in the bathroom for eating because I felt so ashamed when I was eating that I would hide on the plane, just like when we went to London,” she said. “I remember hiding there and eating like a shrimp because I was scared that if someone saw me eating, they thought I would try to fat or something. I didn’t know. I didn’t know. I was in such a dark space.”
Sagal played Applegate’s on-screen mother on the show, which ran from 1987 to 1997, and told her she “didn’t know it all.”
Applegate replied, “Yes, I put everything close to my chest. A lot of things have happened in your life, you don’t know.”
