So, here’s a nightmare scenario: you open your work Slack On your phone so you can DM with some colleagues. You talk to this group regularly, but you don’t see the chat in the list of active DMs on your phone, so you choose all participants individually to pick up the conversation. Without thinking too much about it, you accept a strange promise that asks, “Do you want to include all the chat story?”
Because yes, you think, of course it should include the chat history of the DM group, which you chatted over ages. Who has time for this? It’s a business to lead! Essential facts to convey! But the answer here is not, you don’t want to do that. Because if you do, you will have carried Your entire DM story with the first person you chose for the chat in the DM group.
This is not hypothetical. In fact, this screw recently happened to me when I tried DM two of my bosses, Brian Barrett and Tim Marchman. Suddenly, Tim had full access to years of private conversations between me and Brian, without apparent way to undo it. “Lmao Andrew,” Brian wrote, “what you did.”
Dead. I was, at that moment, removed from embarrassment – and worry that I had just made a catastrophic mistake. I couldn’t even explain what happened, even less to explain it.
After I realized that I would not be escorted in RH and my heart rate fell back to normal, I was decided to see what went wrong and warn the world not to make the same mistake I made.
It turns out, this is definitely not a slow feature – it’s a bug.

My next question, of course, was like Slack users can make sure this never happens – and what to do if it does. “You can process this in a few ways,” Bitong says. “First, manually descend to refresh the application.
