See now on the gallery’s London outpost Wandering Capture the flashing perceptron, exposing other words through the neglected lens.
Pecis, known for his glowing still life and landscape paintings, continues to meditate on daily visuals, making ordinary meditations through sharp color clarity. Each part Wandering Starting with a studio photo taken when she was running or when she was commuting to get off work, the bland scenes later transformed into visual poetry that was layered.
In works such as “Bakery Show,” Pecis draws our attention to the seductive geometry of the green dot pastry stand, Brooklyn: mounds of berries, thick sponge layers and plump cream are neatly arranged in tight rows. Another work, “Free Box,” evokes hope and sadness through the lonely cardboard box on the roadside and the lonely cardboard box between its ownership.
Watching the paintings of pecans is a miracle of return – curiosity about the world and the continuous beauty of nature. The curved lights and blue tones ripples subtly in the “hotel pool”, while the milky white herons in “Creek Egret” remind us of the sweet, accidental moments that appear when we allow ourselves to actually see them.
