House Minority Leader Not Rejecting Calls to Return Ice on “View”

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said in an interview Monday.view“Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is following “law-abiding immigrant families” and has not dismissed the call from other members of his party for their refunds.

He told the host: “Well, I absolutely think we need active oversight because it has something to do with the excessive aggression we see from the ICE of the Department of Homeland Security.”

“Donald Trump and Republicans promised to pursue a felony of violence, but they are hunting for law-abiding immigrant families. In fact, in some cases, American citizens and children are deported, and some have cancer. And the United States is better than that, and that’s the reality, and that’s the reality,” Jeffries continued.

Jeffries also answered Co-host Ana Navarrohe imposed comments on Latinos from his desperate Latinos about the Trump administration’s immigration policy.

“We see a bit like the American people unleashing an unprecedented flood of extremism, which happened from the very beginning,” he said of Trump.

“But I don’t think we’ll ever lose hope because of the resilience of the American people in the face of turmoil, it’s an incredibly turbulent moment, but it’s about providing power to our path through it and getting stronger on the other side. It’s not easy. It’s going to be challenging, but I still believe in the basic kindness of the American people.”

Jeffries said it was important to protect the border, but also said Congress needed to repair the broken immigration system.

“As House Democrats, our view is that while we work to ensure that the borders can remain safe, we will also stand up for dreamers, farm workers and law-abiding immigrant families as we work to repair the broken immigration system,” he told the co-host.
