The home of two Minnesota lawmakers had become a shooting early Saturday morning, according to CBS News, a U.S. news partner of the BBC.
They are state Senator John Hoffman and Minnesota House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman, both from the Democratic Peasant Party party Champlin and Brooklyn Park, a neighboring city near Minneapolis.
CBS reported that it is not clear who was shot in the house or their condition.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said earlier that there had been a “targeted shooting.”
The Brooklyn Park Police Department has issued a site order to take a three-mile (4.8 km) radius for the Edinburgh Golf Course.
Zach Lindstrom, mayor of nearby mound landscape, said elected officials had received a “safety alert.”
According to local Fox 9, authorities warned people in the area not to answer for police doors unless there were two officers.
Mayor Lindstrom said on X that he heard the suspect was a man who imitated “official officers, they were not caught.”
Walz said on X that authorities are “closely monitoring the situation” and he activated a state emergency operation center to manage disasters or emergencies.
