Mirroring Duplicates what’s on your iPad to your Mac. You will see the same content on both screens. This is useful when you share your screen or streaming content to another device such as your TV or external monitor. You can also enable screen mirroring correctly from your iPad sliding down on the Control Centerstriking the Screen mirroring icon, and then choosing your Mac.
How to use Sidecar
If you extend the screen, using Sidecar is quite intuitive. It works as well as a standard external monitor. You can drag windows between the screen and the iPad with your cursor. If you are using a program you can click on Window> Move window to Mac or Window> Move to iPad, and it will move to the respective device.
You will notice the Side bar Side of the iPad. You can trigger different actions depending on the icon. You can use them to: hide or display the dock, display the screen keyboard and use shortcuts such as move, control, option and command. You can hide it by going to the control center on your Mac by clicking the Screen mirror iconand choosing Hide a side bar.

You can show or hide the Touch bar. It appears at the bottom of the screen and shows some features depending on the app you use. For example, if you type, you will see the emoji key and predictive text. If you open a new tab in your browser window, you will see a text box to type the URL along with the back, forward and home buttons.
If you mirror the screen, you can use the iPad as you would usually do. It will recognize all the same gestures as slipping, taping, scrolling and zooming. You can also navigate the screen with your Apple pencil. If you have the Second-generational Apple PencilYou can enable a double tap to trigger custom actions with some programs.
How to turn off Sidecar
When you finish the iPad as a secondary screen, you can turn it off with the Mac or iPad. If you extend the screen, you will need to complete the following steps.
On Mac, click the Control CenterThen click on Screen mirroring and unleash your iPad from the menu. On the iPad, tap on the icon with a rectangle and a diagonal line across it on the Touch barthen tap Disconnect. If you mirror the screen, slide onto the control center on the iPad and tap Stop mirroring.
