Saturday 1st March 1 Salita Promotional Battle Card Main Event will feature former IBF Super Lightweight Champion Subriel Matias as he returns to the ring to face Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela (30-3-1, 17 KOS) Living in Daz.
Subriel Matias’ second career defeat in his career last time in his battle in Puerto Rico, his performance was disappointing. Now, the 32-year-old Matias plans to win IBF Super Lightweight Champion Embininator Bout in front of his hometown crowd.
The 140-pound contender, Subriel Matias, has earned the reputation of becoming the division’s Boogeyman after stopping Petros Ananyan in the ninth round in January 2022. Matias mastered a relentless style of pressure, in which he broke the opponent and produced a shutdown in all his wins.
In February 2023, Subriel Matias stopped Jeremias Ponce in Round 5 and won the vacant IBF Super Lightweight World Championship. A year later, Matias will return to Puerto Rico for the second defense of the world championship. Unfortunately for Matias, he lost to Liam Paro through a unanimous decision.
Five months later, Subriel Matias rebounded through a second round TKO defeat to Roberto Ramirez. Now, the hard-hitting Mathias is basically just one step away from winning the chance to become a two-time world champion.
The hope to play the role of spoilers is 30-year-old Mexican boxer Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela. On the evening of March 1, the victory of loser Valenzuela will lead to the destruction of Matias’ homeland and occupy the IBF World Championship Challenger.
As early as May 2022, Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela faced her then-unbeaten 140-pound contender Montana Love. In the first round of the round, Southpaw Love is connected to Valenzuela’s right hook.
Valenzuela landed on the left hook in the second round and sent love to the canvas. The fight was very competitive, but at the end of the 12-round match, Montana Love won the unanimous decision as all three judges scored the rounds 114-112.

If Matias was able to determine the pace of the battle by using a senior defender, pushing forward and shooting his shot, it could be a painful night for Valenzuela.
To get Valenzuela out of the situation, he must steal Liam Paro’s script. Valenzuela must establish its own jab, control the range, frame from the outside, and use an elbow if the inside of the Matias is too far away, and then away from the hind feet. Valenzuela must be patient, discipline and defensive responsibility in 12 rounds.
A key battle will be held between the hometown’s favorite Subriel Matias and Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela on Saturday night, March 1. The losers of this game will have to take a step back and rebuild, while the winner will continue to challenge the IBF super lightweight world champion Richardson Hitchins during his reign.
