Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials and their federal partners were beaten by illegal immigrants, while on Wednesday at a Meat production plants in Omaha, Nebraska.

During the raid, the agency said that during the ICE detained more than 70 illegal immigrants, some of whom arrested local warrants, prior DUI convictions or previously deported. (ice)
The ICE did not specify how officers were beaten, but protesters gathered outside the food factory during the raid jumped on the front bumper of the official vehicle while others threw stones on the ice truck as a white bus took the workers away in the operation.
Glen Valley Food President Chad Hartmann told the Associated Press that he was surprised by the raid, saying the plant used electronic verification to confirm workers’ immigration status before hiring workers.
“My biggest question is: Why are we?” Hartman told the Associated Press. “Everything we do with this book.”

Hartman added that the ice officer of the raid apparently told him that the electronic verification system had been destroyed.
“I mean, what should I do?” Hartman told the Associated Press. “This is your system, run by the government. You are raiding me because your system is broken?”
Douglas County Commissioner Roger Garcia said in a Facebook post Wednesday that officials are “telling friends and allies to be on standby as we continue to collect and verify information and coordinate appropriate guidance for affected families.”

“Some response teams have been activated, and there are safe spaces for families to go, as well as legal representatives that are being coordinated,” Garcia said. “We are still trying to learn more about the detention today, how many sites (which verified so far Lala and Glenn Valley, the JBS may have mislisted the JBS we are investigating), and where the detention is listed as the location.”
