“Success is not final, failure is not deadly: the courage to keep working hard,” Khelif added an article to the boxer’s Instagram story.
Coventry Said Thursday Amid the trans athlete controversy, she has received “overwhelming support” to protect the women’s category at the Olympics in the US, UK and Australia.
“We know there will be differences based on the sport … but it’s obvious from the members that we have to protect the female category first to ensure fairness,” Coventry said.
“However, we need to take a scientific approach and include international federations that have already done a lot of work in this area.”

The new president added that there was “unanimous” support to reach an agreement on how to modify the policy and recommended that the IOC draw inspiration from world track and field policy, which limits biological males to compete in women’s sports if these males go through male adolescence.
“From a membership, medical and scientific research around the core has to be discussed, so we are looking at facts, nuances and an international alliance that includes a lot of the work done…sit down at the table and share it with us because every sport is different,” she said.
“However, it is almost unanimous that the IOC should play a leadership role in bringing everyone together to find a broad consensus.”
However, Coventry also said that any change may not lead to retroactively changing the outcome of past matches that feature issues of gender qualifications. The 2024 Paris Olympics won gold medals in women’s competition with two boxers, although there has not been a gender qualification test in international competitions before.
