
Ingram Micro, US technology distributing a giant and managed service provider, said on Monday that Ransomware attack is the cause of ongoing disruption at the company.
The hack started on Thursday, later the company’s website and much of its network declined. Late Saturday, the company said In a short statement that it worked to restore systems so that it can start preparing orders again.
Ingram Micro on Monday Warned shareholders to the break before markets opened in the United States.
California based Ingram Micro is one of the world’s largest technology distributors, shipping technology and hardware to companies worldwide. It is also a managed service -provider for the clouds of its customers, effectively acting as an outsourced IT section for smaller corporate clients.
The disruption is said to affect software licenses, preventing Ingram Micro customers from using or providing some products that depend on Ingram’s systems.
No major ransomware group, however, credited the break, but Bleeping Computer Reports that the hack was caused by Safepay’s Gang Ransomware. It is not uncommon for ransomware gangs to appoint hack companies and publish portions of stolen data to try to extinct victims in paying ransoms.
Ingram spokesman Micro Lisa Zwick did not immediately return a request for comment.
