When Isabel Marant enjoys romance, it always comes with courage. Floral: The garden blooms may be a classic telescope for spring, but here creative director Kim Bekker captures Victoriana and Vary West’s whip to propose a different, more nuanced attitude.
“We wanted to create a compelling contrast between the sophisticated and the tough elements,” Bekker offered during the showroom preview. She is not only talking about women’s pre-orders. The men’s lineup is also very poetic.
When considered an Allover pattern, floral scents sprinkle dots on a shawl-covered jersey dress, or a mixture between Ikat and tie-dye patterns. More influential, however, is the abstract effect of etching by cutting lasers on white leather mini-mills or metal studs and gradient eyelets etched on black velvet jackets. Fans participating in the Cowboys Inspo will wear Western tilted tops and black dresses here.
But what is as important as Victorian is the waist, ruffles and reexamined lamb sleeves are just as powerful as shoulders. Refreshingly, a few very nice numbers are saved, which are very dense and the brand does not rely on transparency. “Sexy doesn’t need to be naked,” Bekker quipped. Instead, soft fabrics, faux fur and lace make the feminine silhouettes easy, with strong statement earrings muscular.
The edgy staples are original denim, leather jackets and boots that nodded to the west, but the dosage and filter were carefully given through the position of Des Victoires. Speaking of Paris’ stylish, wicked, tiny the-heel Edrik boots are back, tucked into curved pants or paired with stick-style jeans, now paired with a laser-cut moon that blinks as the wearer walks. But there is also a new low ballerina boot in town: Ferix appears to be Isabel Marant’s answer to the grid. If you look closely, you will see those incisions are tiny hearts. In the world, how they achieve this without having to be cute is the brand’s secret seasoning.
