president Donald Trump Announcement on cutting down a tree, said to have been planted by the former president Andrew Jackson.
In Sunday’s Truth Society post, Trump said he is working with “a wonderful people of the National Park Service” to “make a huge improvement to the White House to maintain and protect history!”
“One of the interesting dilemmas is a tree planted by legendary president and general Andrew Jackson years ago,” Trump said. “It’s a southern Mulan from his home, The Winter Palace, in Tennessee. That’s good news! ”
He continued: “The bad news is that everything has to end, the tree is in a terrible state, and it is a very dangerous security danger, at the entrance to the White House, now quite a few, now have to be demolished.”

The historic tree will be cut down in the coming days, Trump wrote, and it will be replaced by “another very beautiful tree.”
“The historic wood on the trees will be preserved by White House staff and can be used for other noble purposes!!!” the president added.
Jackson, who served as president from 1829 to 1837, reportedly died in 1828 in memory of his wife Rachel, who planted two magnolia trees near the White House, but according to the National Park Service (NPS) website, the connection between the trees and the old pecans is worth discussing.
“Historical photography documents show that Magnolia first appeared at the site near the South Porch in the 1860s, and is still attributed to President Jackson,” the agency explained.

NPS describes: “In 2006, the National Park Service designated trees as witness trees and proved many ‘important historical and cultural activities’.” “The tree base also bears the brunt of the crash, with the Cessna plane crash targeting the White House in September 1994 and was subject to major demolition and pruning in December 2017.”
Although the president’s supporters largely supported the decision, the initial reaction to Trump’s announcement on social media was mixed.
“I am a tree expert in trade and I have worked with trees for thirty years… These (magnolia) trees are well known that soft wood will dry and fragile as we age,” wrote an X user. “I won’t be near that.”
Another joked, “Be ready to treat it like a second game.”
