Jalil Hackett suffers freak damage

Jalil Hackett (9-1, 7 KO) will avenge his December Jose Roman (14-1, 6 KOS) on Saturday, March 15 at Caribe Royale, California, Orlando, Florida. He looked very prepared and was ready to perform well at yesterday’s press conference.

They said they will announce the new WBA North American welterweight champion, or as they say in Puerto Rico, translate to “and new”. He has the warrior mentality where you fight hard to prove your worth, defeat tough opponents, and show your greatness. He doesn’t believe in building your resume with soft opponents. He just wants to avenge his losses and continue his path.

However, after the press conference, he suffered what was described as a weird accident. When he came out of the sauna, he slipped and injured his right foot. “I came out of the sauna and you know how the sauna gets two levels, so from one of the levels I glided down to footsteps, I lost my foot type sh*t. Instead of landing like a flat foot, I landed on the ball of the ankle. My sh*t swelled immediately,” Jalier said when asked about the injury.

Apparently frustrated and disappointed, he couldn’t fight this Saturday. He does say he plans to re-match with Jose Roman this summer. Many fans are looking forward to a rematch, and demand for this is still high. Jalil is fully recovered and can deliver on his promise and avenge his losses. Roma won the split decision in December, with two judges 96-94 in Roma, with the third in favor of Hackett 96-94. Hackett seems to control early turn by aiming at the body, but seems to slow down in the middle to late.

Jalil asked for the fight despite offering other battles. “I don’t have to go to this fight, the game room doesn’t offer this fight first, they offer other fights first. My team doesn’t want this fight. I said I want this fight because this is the guy I just lost. It’s not just anxiety, it’s ready. It’s one of the better camps I have. It’s just a sad guy.”
