In a recent interview with Rolling stoneCameron talked about why he was so committed to the world of Avatar And it’s not (fair) because the movies make the big dollars every time it is released.
“I justified to do Avatar Movies to myself for the last 20 years, not based on how much money we have earned, but based on hopefully it can do some good, it can help connect us, it can help connect us to our lost aspect of ourselves, which connects with nature and respects nature and all those things, “he shared.
He personally invested in Pandora’s stories – who also resonated with audiences as well – and he also thanks how they continued to push him to raise cinema technology.
“So I think movies are the answer to our human problems? No, I think they are limited, because people sometimes just want to entertainment, and they don’t want to be challenged in this way. I think Avatar There is a Trojan horse strategy that puts you into distraction, but then works in your brain and your heart a little. ”
His interest in politics informed his story. “We will go one of two ways. We will either fragment and be one at the throats, fighting against the rags of what remains, or we will evolve to the next level. And the next level, music plays a role, a huge part. Film, culture, books, these all play us. There lie hope.
Empathy and Hope were perhaps the most influential moral compass of Cameron’s films, as seen not only in the Avatar franchise but as early as his Terminator Movies.
“I think art in the broadest sense – meaning writing, film, music, culture – is part of the hope, part of the positive side of the equation,” he said. “When I wrote, imagining the story for Terminator 2Song continued to cross my head, which was Sting [‘Russians,’ where he sings] “I hope the Russians love their children too” … When Sarah sees the kids in the Incinerata playground, that was the core image for that movie, and then she is inciting herself. So it was really about mothers, children. She was very inhumanized at the beginning of that story. She finds her empathy, she goes through that wall, and so I treated all those issues then. ”
That goes on now, though Cameron noted, “I can only hope that I am just a better, more experienced filmmaker now, and I can deal with this topic respectfully and right.” And if it passes through the lasting success of the Avatar Movies saving cinema again and again, can we really let the man do his thing?
