The last speech of the day came from 66° North, an Icelandic jacket brand that celebrated its 99th birthday this year. After CEO Helgióskarsson talked to me through the archives, it was time to have a delicious dinner prepared by a local Italian restaurant.
Day 3: Wednesday, January 29
One of the best things about fashion week is seeing my colleagues from all over the world – at the costume show I sat with Katharina Fuchs from Vogue, Germany, who also happens to be my car friend (all transports are electric of). My look for the day was another Chopova Lowena dress (also from eBay) paired with a worn vintage leather jacket made of Deadstock material.
Next? The MKDT Studio Exhibition is held at the Statens Museum in Kunst, the most exquisite of the week. Although Copenhagen Fashion Week is mainly women’s clothing, there are also some excellent men’s clothing designers, including Frederik Berner Kühlhe is known for his minimalist wardrobe staple.
Then it’s time to head to the Zalando Visieary Award for the winners announcement, which celebrates exciting new talents, including those working in the field of sustainability. It’s great to see Lagos-based brand Iamisigo win with its handmade work, made by artisans from Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana.
Without some artichokes, this wouldn’t be a Scandi dinner – here is the beautiful dining table setting for Antipasti.
Day 4: Thursday, January 30
I spent a morning catching up with work and headed to the Marimekko Show at the Kastrup Airport in the 1930s, about the 1930s, Vilhelm Lauritzen Terminal, where I caught up with my friend (COO of Copenhagen Fashion Week) Isabella Rose Davey. Then there was the last show of the day, spinning up – here I shot it for me with a Ganni Bou bag made of recycled leather.
After a few years of travelling at Copenhagen Fashion Week, it was great to see so many familiar faces at the official dinner, including Danish designer Cecilie Bahnsen. My new collaboration with Nona Source was wearing a matching white top and skirt, again made from Deadstock material.
Day 5: Friday, January 31
The final day begins with a Newtalent breakfast co-hosted by Ganni-focused by Bonnetje, Berner Kühl, Stamm and Alectra Rothschild. Those breads taste as good as they look!
Then it was time to take the four-hour train to Aalborg for Stine Goya’s performance, which Goya curated at the Kunsten Museum of Modern Art. An exhibition. It is a great honor to be part of the intimate audience of the exhibition before accepting dinner and the private views of the exhibition. The perfect way to have a week!
