The US Senate voted this to use Kristi Noem as Minister of Homeland, since Donald Trump quickly implements his promised approach to illegal immigration.
The upper chamber of the congress voted 59 to 34 votes for confirming the governor of South Dakota as head of the Ministry of Homeland Protection with the order to cope with the US border crisis.
In his first week in the White House, the President signed a number of implementation regulations that called for the national emergency on the border between the USA and Mexico and ended the American program to relocate refugees.
He also restricted the birth law on citizenship, but the measure was temporarily stopped by a federal court because it declared it unconstitutional. Trump has promised to appeal against the order.
“Border security must continue to be a top priority,” said Noem last week during her hearing for confirmation. “As a nation, we have the right and responsibility to secure our limits against those who would harm us.”
Noem’s confirmation takes place after the Senate Marco Rubio has confirmed as Foreign Minister Pete Hegseth As Minister of Defense, one of the most controversial elections of the President.
As Minister of Internal Security, Noem will also supervise the Secret Service, which was examined after two attacks against Trump last year, in which he was injured in the ear.
During her hearing for confirmation, Noem said that the secret service was “urgently needed to reform”.
“We all saw the threats against (President) Trump last year – and the consequences of a failure,” she added.
Noem’s autobiography, in which she tells how she shot her puppy cricket because of misconduct, caused a nationwide topic of conversation last year.
