Lamont Roach said on social media that he will rise in both divisions after he beat Gervonta Davis in the rematch, facing the winner of the November battle between November WBO middleweight champions Brian Norman Jr. and Devin Haney.
Devin Haney smiled Roach
Haney (32-0, 15 KOS) caused Roach’s comment. If he wins against Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KOS), it’s not the struggle he’s going to focus on. He may focus on the biggest money struggle available, which will be a rematch with Ryan Garcia or a fight against Teofimo Lopez.
“After defeating the tank, I’m fighting the winners of Devin Haney and Brian Norman. You go. I won’t say it again,” said Lamont Roach on social media. “You all can hold it, you all can do anything. That’s what I’m doing. You hear it here first.”
Roach lacks power, fans attraction
Turki Alalshikh doesn’t mention who he wants to win the Haney-Norman Jr. champion to face the next one, but he’s unlikely to focus on using Roach as an opponent. His well-known for casual boxing fans, his defensive fighting style will make viewing boring. He has no power of 135, he will be completely like Norman Jr.
Watching Roach beating by Norman Jr., it won’t be moving because he can’t absorb the punishment his last opponent, Jin Sasaki, did before stopping. Roach was in trouble almost immediately, and fans would feel deprived if the event was sold on PPV.
Roach (25-1-2, 10 KOS) and WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis will fight in August. In the previous fight on March 1, they had 12 draws. Many fans believe Roche was robbed of the victory. A knee incident occurred in the ninth round, and the tank was hit on the back knee by Roach’s poke.
Davis then walked to the corner without asking for a pause from the referee in order to remove grease from his eyes. Since Davis bent his knee, this should lead to deduction. The referee lost control of the situation. The fractions of the storage tank are 114-114, 115-113, 114-113.
