So far, sports car manufacturers have created a trend of off-road versions that have been promoted, strengthened, expanded and built to conquer the challenge of the planet. But what if automakers are already known for off-roading? Where are you going? That’s exactly Land Rover Defender Eight yes.
We are awarded the exclusive invitation to Colorado Test drive brand new Land Rover Defender Octa was early in its arrival. The eight-eight people are built on the Defenders 110 V8 version and are the guards that end all the defenders. Wide body, largest engine, exclusive engine with suspension suspension and reinforced chassis enhancement; Land Rover is marketing eight chapters to buyers in the upper echelon who need driving needs. But from what we encountered, its main goal might be overdoing and the price is hard to swallow ($152,000).
So, what is the reason you bought the Defender Octa? Are you shopping for the look or the ultimate challenge or high-speed adventure? We addressed each approach and concluded that for us it was defined by two of the three cases, and one of them did not completely lay off employees.
design
At first glance, without other defenders on the field, you can easily mistake the eight chapters for the standard 110, minus some aesthetic differences. That’s the key – we don’t want super loud, oversized “Look at Me” design changes because we’re big fans of the defender. Therefore, the eighth chapter is to restrain yourself from becoming a top decoration.
That being said, chapter eight is clearly prominent when you are familiar with the defenders and possibly against the neighboring defenders. The first thing you notice is the wide arch – while only 2.7 inches are measured in total, it’s significantly wider than the standard 110 for all angles due to its defined fender panels and different fender edges. The car is still 1.1 inches higher than the standard, but it’s not that obvious in real life. Other outstanding features include eight badges that are visible on the rear quarter panel, and a more aggressive front and rear bumper arrangement that takes advantage of the former’s new cellular design and provides the latter with the Quad’s exhaust. We like over fifty vending machines, not only are people in their fifties, but they are not only sent out more styles, but also more styles. Finally, the first edition of Eight provides a smear of forged carbon fibers on the exterior panels – subjectively, we’ll choose these carbon fibers as they tend to get rid of the overall aesthetic of the deviant pathway.
To be honest, if you are considering an eight for purely appearance, we don’t recommend it. It’s designed correctly and we’ll be 1000% subtle upgrades of the design with a complete overhaul and makeover, but that simply doesn’t justify the new price tag. But this is the beginning.
Off-road capability
On our trip to Grand Junction, Colorado, we encountered a lot of terrain challenges, most of which included off-road trails. A major expedition involved rock crawling, turning back, and eventually conquering the mountainous red rocks of Honeycomb State, and even some river crossings.
This gave Land Rover guard Eight A a real chance, but it might be a little counterproductive to us. In our adventures, we certainly accompanied multiple defenders with eight defensives (Octa) and standard 110. In our way, the rough surfaces, sharp rocks and rather huge boulders did not have any threat to the lifting, protected and riding in suspended vehicles, but for us to realize that in the 110s, they were not many problems either.
Eight Eight More Powerful than their Standard Brethren: The fully independent multi-valve “6D Dynamics” hydraulic suspension angle is a key aspect of the unique setup of the Eight Chapters, which metaphorically mocks the loose gravel and stones on our Moab trail. For larger boulders, we have the idea that the body is protected by a skid plate to keep us from any possible damage. In fact, there was a case where we were sure the skateboard was hit, but after inspection we found no obvious damage, which not only meant that it did the job, but also performed well. On the software side, Octa’s car terrain mode is once again exciting – it defines “setting and forgetting it” because we find ourselves not even bothering with the mode selector throughout our trip. Thanks to the redesigned exterior of the front and rear, there is no steep enough inlet or outlet to scratch or wear.
However, this puzzle is actually right in front of us, because we followed the standard 110 almost the whole process. Where we went, 110 was already just a few feet away from us. While we don’t have any crew members in the standard defenders, we don’t think they’re breaking the sweat, which also reinforces the “If the 110 is good enough, why spring spring?” Like the athletic brother, all the equipment and training are surpassed by the entire 400m young siblings. So if you are going to take out eight chapters of cash, the price (over 110 V8) is even more so, it can conquer all the trails, not itself.
Highway capability
Ironically, we found that the eight-eight people’s road performance was more appropriate than off-road competitions. With the new Eight Eight-Eight mode and digital games with engines, the flagship decoration is very fun in the department.
Defender Eight A uses BMW-sourced 4.4L twin-turbo V8, which is executed as a mild hybrid with a performance-assisted electric motor. Land Rover claims that this power equals up to 626 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, depending on the mode selected. Even when in dynamic mode, eight give the driver full power, but keep the driver assist tool to maintain this power. However, the eighteen mode is above one step, so it separates it from the run of Mill 110.
Our first mission in Colorado was to explore the best scenes of Eight Eight Mode, and Land Rover didn’t beat it in the bush to show exactly what it was: a Baja-style off-road track that mixes fast and hairpins with affluent, riverbank, riverbank and even a few jumps. Our Land Rover Pro driver gave us a passenger to aim for a lap and then hand over the steering wheel, and we knew or felt that the eighth pair (Octa) could easily grasp the mile route. All 626 HP (somehow) finds scattered dirt and gravel in the best way, while allowing for a balance of sliding and grip. The engine works in line with the suspension and 22-inch off-road wheels and tire package, giving us the confidence to shoot on rough surfaces. During our turn, we mustered up the courage to go 55 mph due to our inexperienced, but maybe not enough, but well-trained professional drivers-our riders paid eight more eight eight-year-olds footsteps.
So, if you are the proud owner of Defender Octa, which environment will benefit you the most? We think it was built for a rather affluent semi-city landscape—think one or two hours outside of Chicago or Indianapolis—and they both have access to highways, twists, canyons, canyons and trails. We will configure defender eight pairs of strumming on the rugged side to highlight the aggressive wide body and raised curves and may skip factory-provided matte PPF, or 20-inch wheels with extra tires. Why? If we had to rank our uses, we would take eight or eight on the road instead of an increasingly more route, then there would be another more route instead of a more spacious route, and how many.
Of the three aspects listed here, design and road capability bring us a cake, but that doesn’t mean we won’t appreciate off-road capability – we just feel that eight chapters are too harmful for even the advanced trails we’re on. We’ve seen this formula before with other automakers like Porsche and Lamborghini, but in reality, we’re proud that Land Rover has more prioritized off-road angles. Whether you use eight chapters to reach all your potential or not is one thing, but we believe it can solve everything you put in, which means $152,000 is reasonable.
