Dunham’s move to London in 2021 inspired her new rom-com

Lena Dunham is almost synonymous with New York City. The American actress, writer and director became famous with her award-winning semi-autobiographical girl, who followed four women in her 20s while browsing four women in their 20s in the Big Apple.

But her latest project – in the past few years, her life has been based on her life, which is the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.

There were so many Jessica (Megan Stalter) who moved from New York to London after breaking up with her boyfriend and fell in love with punk musician Will Sharpe.

Just as Dunham did when he moved to London in 2021, Jessica quickly learned the big thing about the UK: everyone loves Paddington, the Jaffa cake debate is very controversial (absolutely cookies), and “housing real estate” is not the sprawling garden of a luxurious estate.

Dunham told the BBC that while too much has “superficial similarities” to her life and is “about 5% autobiography”, she never saw herself playing the show’s lead role in the way a girl.

“I don’t think Jessica is me – she was inspired by my life, but her own role, and wrote it on Megan,” she said.

Megan Stalter said the girls were “all about sex, too much about falling in love”, similar to how Dunham watched the show.

Dunham says there are some autobiographical elements too many

Another reason why she chose to leave the spotlight. Dunham’s body was under scrutiny while filming a girl in her 20s, and last year she told New Yorker that “she didn’t dissect my body again.”

She explained that physical humiliation was part of the reason she walked behind the camera. “Just considered overwhelming,” she said.

Dunham has been focusing on writing projects that are not actor-centric for the past few years.

She believes that society has made progress towards a more positive body, but says the culture we live in remains “so profound fat, misogynistic, racist and ageism that makes our bodies vibrate”.

The 39-year-old has been facing challenges with her health, especially endometriosis, which led her to undergo a hysterectomy at the age of 31.

When asked how her relationship with her body has changed since then, she said she developed a new love for her appearance.

“I was able to build relationships with my body, and my body was outside of cultural pressure, and I felt lucky for that.”

In addition to reflecting on changes in her self-image, Dunham also said she has learned a lot since she was in her 20s.

The actress has been enjoying more than a decade of controversy in the spotlight.

In 2017, she defended female writer Murray Miller when she was accused of sexual assault. Dunham apologized later, Sharing her point is “absolutely the wrong time.” Miller strongly denied these claims but was not charged.

She also apologized She made a “noying joke” She hopes to experience termination when discussing miscarriage in the United States, said in the podcast.

“I think at that time, it’s important to keep going and get tough,” she reported.

“I’m very focused on work, not making any noise in any noise, but I wish I could allow myself to spend more time and space. We all have to acknowledge our own complexity and sensitivity, but when you’re in your 20s it’s hard to get your head wrapped around.”

“I think I’m too much”

Dunham’s new 10-episode series star hackers Megan Stalter and Will Sharpe, known for playing Ethan Spiller with White Lotus and movies like Real Pain.

Sharpe, 38, said he was related to the challenges facing the character because “everyone carries luggage from a previous relationship” and feels vulnerable when they enter a new person.

A strong person is also related to her character. The 34-year-old said she often “feels too much” in her 20s, but over time she is proud of who she is.

Writing with Dunham’s husband, Luis Felber, is that too much attention is paid to the development of a romantic relationship.

Its reality is refreshing – from a serious conversation between Jessica and Felix to a media salary extending to home and real estate in East London, rather than Bridget Jones-style apartments in the Borough Market.

I asked Dunham if she had dating skills for women in her 20s given that she had roller coasters trying to find a life partner.

She said the concept of dating has changed over the years, and going back to the late stages of late development, “is considered the last last resort or strange thing to meet someone online.”

Looking back, Dunham hopes she will let herself know what she really wants, not just see the cultural expectations of her.

“If I let myself understand my wishes, then I would have romantically looked different when I was in my 20s.”

Too much was released on Netflix on July 10.
