Jones believes that neutrality in relationships “does not exist” and that sometimes cutting off family members in political differences is Yes Do.
“Sometimes, the act of knowing someone leaves you with no choice but to move on without them. If my parents like Crocodile Alcatraz, I will stop talking to them anymore,” she wrote. “If they are rude to my LGBT friends, I will block their numbers. Former Obama speaker admits his family’s conservatives are a mistake
Her work is a response to Obama White House speechwriter David Litt’s guest paper this week in The New York Times, which calls on liberals to stop excluding conservative family members.
Litt wrote that he reconnected with his brother-in-law – a fan of Joe Rogan, unvaccinated – by learning to surf after he had previously given him cold shoulders.
This experience made him reconsider his previous unfriendliness to relatives.
“Avoiding the drama of the inciteers makes it easier for them to divide us and even incite violence in some cases,” Letter wrote.

In her answer, Jones mocked the argument “so naively bordering malice.”
“Recently, civilization is another word for impunity,” she wrote.
“I can see what Litt gets from this pursuit of neutrality. He obviously feels better about himself, and family gatherings now have to be easier. No one else has changed.”
Jones argues that we cannot “pretend” to ignore political differences in order to maintain peace in relationships.
“In fact, it’s nice to have values and draw lines accordingly, even if there’s a chance that someone will overcorrect,” she wrote.
