The library of the congress gave a fuller explanation of why large sections of the US constitution suddenly disappeared from its official website.
As Techcrunch previously reportedParts of Section 8, as well as the whole of Section 9 and Section 10, have been removed from Article 1 of the Constitution on the official website of the US government last month. The changes to the sections that belonged to the congressional powers, the rights of individual states and the rights to the right process, led to an alarm at a time when the Trump administration has threatened to reject habeas corpus.
Once the changes were reported, the Congress Library tweeted that the sections are missing due to a “code error.”
Techcrunch reached the library of the congress and received more understanding of the matter:
“The Internet Constitution commented is an educational tool that includes discussions of the latest Court Opinions linked to the text of the constitution. When updating the site to reflect the analysis of our constitutional scholars on the impact of the latest cases on Article I, sections 8-10, the team unintentionally removed an XML tag,” by the team of the team, and the director of the congress. ”
“This has prevented the publication of everything in article I after the middle of section 8. The problem was corrected, and our updated constitutional analysis is now available. We are taking steps to prevent repetition in the future,” Ryan said.
XML is often used marking used by the library of the congress to format its website. A missing closing tag could splashingly result in missing text from the site, as anything outside the label would be ignored.
The full text of the constitution was now reinstated on the website of the Congress Library.
