The saga of Like Dune Vs. Star Wars ended. Lucasfilm and the Walt Disney company reached an agreement with actress Gina Carano in his legal dispute over her shot of The Mandalorian.
“The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the affairs in her pending lawsuit against the companies,” Lucasfilm’s spokesman said. “Mrs. Carano was always respected by her directors, co-stars and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect. With this complaint finished, we look forward to identifying opportunities to cooperate with Mrs. Carano soon.”
This all started in 2021 when io9 exclusively broke the news that Lucasfilm separated ways with the protagonist of The Mandalorian. The move came after months of complaints about Carano’s online presenceincluding mocking Covid Mask Mandates,, Spreading conspiracies About the United States election, Liking posts despising the movement of Black Lives Matter, and deriving pronoun Usage.
Then, in 2024, Carano sued Lucasfilm For discrimination and unfair suspension, essentially asserting that none of it opposed her contract and fell under free speech. Oh, and since much of it happened on Twitter, Elon Musk helped fund the lawsuit. “Some of us were unfairly exhausted, harassed, persecuted and our ways of life stripped because we encouraged to encourage conversation, asked questions and refused to go along with the crowd,” Carano said in a statement at the time.
Months laterIt seemed inevitable that the case would make it to court, when a judge claimed that Disney “did not identify any evidence-in the complaint or otherwise-to argue a claim that they use public actors to promote the” values of respect, “of decision,” integrity, “or” “.
But now, it’s all over. The case was resolved. No monetary amount has been revealed and is unlikely. Now we look forward to seeing if Lucasfilm is serious about “working with Mrs. Carano” soon, or just say that.
Carano later released a statement about X. “I have agreed with Disney/Lucasfilm, which I believe is the best result for all parties concerned. I hope this brings some healing to the force,” Carano’s statement reads in part. “I want to extend my deepest thank you to Elon Musk, a man I have never met, who has done this good Samaritan work for me to finance my trial. Thanks Mr. Musk and X for supporting my case and asking nothing against it.”
