Mark Zuckerberg not only wants Meta to lead in the field of artificial intelligence. He wants to build the AI that leads you.
In self to employees seen by Gizmodo on June 30, the Director General of Meta announced the creation of Meta Superintelligence Labs, a major reorganization of the company’s efforts under a single, ambitious purpose: to deliver personal superintelligence to all.
Forget talk boots. Zuckerberg’s vision is much larger. He bet that in a few years AI will not only answer your questions or write your emails. It will manage your schedule, anticipate your needs, manage your home, helping you make decisions and maybe even guiding your career. Call it a life-as-a-service, powered by Meta.
“Because the rhythm of AI -progress is accelerating, developing superintelligence is seen,” Zuckerberg wrote. “This will be the beginning of a new era for humanity, and I am completely committed to doing what is needed for meta to guide the way.”

The movement is seen as a direct challenge to competitors. “The launch of Meta Superintellince Labs is not just an announcement; it is a statement: Meta will not be satisfied with a second place in AI,” commented Alon Yamin, co -founder and general manager of the Plagiarist Detection Platform Copyleaks. He added, “Meta and Mark clearly see this how to do or break a moment for AI guidance.”
Bloomberg reported on the self earlier on Monday. Meta spokesman has since confirmed its content to Gizmodo.
To achieve this, Zuckerberg assembles a kind of AI Avengers team. The new employment represents a major talented coup:
- Alexandr Wang, the founder of Scale AI and one of the most connected operators in the AI supply chain, joins Meta’s new boss AI.
- Nat Friedman, Github’s former Director General and Elita AI investor, comes on board to arrange AI products and applied research.
- Shengjia Zhao, one of the co-creators of GPT-4, recently left Openai to join Meta’s new lab.
These are powerful employment, people with reputations for building fast and thinking years before the market. Zuckerberg says bigger names are on the way.
Meta already has a strong foundation with Lama, its open source family of large language models. The latest versions now operate Meta AI, which the company claims to reach over 1 billion monthly users through Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
But that was just the first phase.
Zuckerberg now wants to build a new generation of models capable of what initials call border activity. In simple terms, that means AI, which can reason, plan, adapt and act with little or no human instruction. If successful, this would not only make a meta -competitive with Openai or Google Deepmind; It would make Meta the home of the world’s first general goal. This is the kind of AI that not just answer your questions. It takes care of your life.
Meta does not start from zero. With Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, the company already knows more about you than many of your friends. It has spent the last 15 years quietly building a behavioral map of billions of people, tracking with whom you talk to what you look at, what you say, and what you buy. This treasure of intimate data is now fuel for the next phase: AI, which not only serves you, but knows you deep enough to operate your life better than you can.
In Tech Speak, Zuckerberg’s vision is for “agent AI”, or AI, who can act for you. Imagine always, endlessly capable, personality intelligence that lives on your phone, in your glasses and through all your devices.
- You do not plan meetings, it does.
- You do not organize your trip, it has already reserved it.
- You do not wonder what kind of job to apply, it is already editing your resume and simulates the interview.
- You don’t ask what to wear, it saw your calendar and put out your outfit.
Meta is uniquely positioned to deliver this mass market personal AI brain. Unlike smaller laboratories, it has a worldwide user base of billions, access to more behavioral data than almost any company on the ground, and a massive computer infrastructure. And with Zuckerberg’s control shares, there are no shareholders to slow down things.
But this also raises urgent questions. Who rules this intelligence? What will it prior to? What happens when a machine knows your wishes better than you, and that machine works for a corporation?
Zuckerberg believes that Meta can be reliable to build and deliver superintelligence to the masses. But the next chapter in AI is not about smart programs or productivity hacks. It will be a fight about who to program the brain that programs you.
