UK President Giant Marks & Spencer refused to tell a panel of lawmakers if the company paid a hack group after a ransomware -a attack earlier this year.
“We said we are not discussing any details of our interaction with the threatening actor,” said President Archie Norman, referring to the Ransom Payment. “We don’t think it’s in the public interest in entering this topic partly because it’s a bill.”
Norman said that “none” at Marks & Spencer interacted directly with the cyber criminals, which he attributed to the Ransomware Gang Dragonforce.
In May, Marks & Spencer revealed That hackers stole an unspecified amount of customer data, including names, dates of birth, home and email addresses, phone numbers, home information and online order stories. The break also disrupted operations for weeks, leaving shelves empty, and customers unable to order online.
Norman told lawmakers that the company is still dealing with healing efforts and will continue to do so until October or November.
